First of all well done to the boys u11’s who end up losing in the semi final of the county cup last night. The boys worked really hard but conceded from two late set pieces. Excellent attitude and performances all round. Unlucky lads..
The lads battled hard but just couldn’t take their chances against Mount Pleasant today in the ‘Champions League’ group game. Was a really good game of football to watch, well done Mount Pleasant in the victory.
The boys worked really hard last night in the Phil Lewis U10 trophy. Unfortunately we didn’t pass the group stage but a big credit to how hard you all worked.
We had a great afternoon at the @stwschoolgames Orienteering competition yesterday. Thoroughly enjoyed and the sun made an appearance as well! Well done everyone!
A big well done to our year 5/6’s this afternoon beating @RadbrookPE in the football champions league group game. Excellent performance from all the children, showing great team work and team skills needed to win the match.
Well done to the boys and girls winning the ‘Mountford Trophy’ this afternoon hosted by Mount Pleasant. Really competitive football tournament, congratulations everyone involved
Busy evening for Mr Morris as he takes the girls U9’s to the county cup semi finals. Good luck girls #TeamGreenfields #Thesegirlscan
What a performance from our B football team today. Losing narrowly 6-5 to our local neighbours Mount Pleasant A team in the ‘CL’ group game. They all played really well and were a treasure to coach. Unlucky not to have nicked an equaliser with seconds to go.
A big well done to all the children who took part in the Shropshire indoor county cricket finals. We finished 3rd out of 8 teams in the finals. Well done boys and girls, great talent on display!
On Tuesday, one of the Greenfields basketball teams made up of Zane, Dan, Breanna and Eva competed against 5 other school teams and they played brilliantly.
Round 1: Harlescott won 4-0 Greenfields were just getting warmed up! Round 2: Greenfields won 8-0 against Meole Brace Round 3: Greenfields drew 4-4 with Mereside Round 4: Greenfields won 6-0 against Trinity Greenfields had the same score as Mereside but it went to goal difference when deciding teams for the finals. Unfortunately Mereside had two more goals, so they qualified for the finals. Round 5: Oakmeadows won 8-0 Fantastic effort from all 4 players! Greenfields finished 4th place. The squad of 9 year 5/6 boys took to Mount Pleasant field where we were about to play our second champions league match of the year. The boys had a fantastic warm up and a nice team huddle before the game gearing each other up for the big match a head. The team knew it was going to be a tough afternoon but a great attitude shown was very encouraging. Greenfields starting 7 started the game terrifically showing a fast tempo winning the ball back and dominating in possession. We took an early lead by a fine strike from distance by Callum Mcmullen. Mount Pleasant hit us on the counter attack and scored a well worked goal making the game level with just 5 minutes played. Nothing our goalkeeper Joe Evans could do about that one! The game was a very end to end till the half time mark with both teams having lots of chances on a very small pitch. 3 quick goals before the half time break give us the advantage of winning 3-2 at half time. The lads came off the pitch with a real buzz about them and you can not take away how hard and well they worked together as a unit from 1 to 9 including both subs. The second half very much illustrated the first half with lots of chances both ends of the field. Joe Evans stepping up making some wonderful saves down low and up high, what a fantastic performance from a young man who has only recently decided to play in goal for our school team. The score ended 5-5 with us having a chance to win the game with moments to spare. A wicked ball whipped back post for Seb Arnold to control the ball perfectly, smashing the ball across the keeper and out of no where the keeper got down low and pushed it around the post! we all thought it was in but credit where its due a magnificent save by the Mount Pleasant number 1. As a coach/ PE teacher i was amazed by the spirit of our Greenfields team to keep battling to the final whistle and to encourage and not get disheartened with the result.
